What we’re looking for: Full Stack Engineer

As a Full Stack Engineer, you’ll have the ability to help build a product used by thousands of people. Each member of the team has the ability to impact all aspects of the development process from ideation, design, delivery, maintenance, and operations. If you are excited to learn, apply new skills, and pitch in for whatever the team needs to ship new code you will fit in great.

Calendly is built using a service-oriented architecture and tests to let us move faster.  The team is constantly doing continuous integration to deliver as quickly as possible. Our current technology includes:

  • Git
  • Ruby on Rails
  • RSpec
  • BackboneJS
  • Marionette JS
  • Capybara
  • SASS
  • Coffeescript
  • Postgres
  • Redis
  • Rescue
  • Heroku

This will include:

  • Develop features, bug fixes, and engineering chores in an agile environment
  • Collaborate with support to help triage and address customer issues
  • Help plan, communicate, train, and deploy production-ready new functionality
  • Advocate and communicate the engineering tradeoffs in the delivery process
  • Maintain a positive, productive peer review environment reviewing pull requests
  • Maintain a quick and comprehensive test suite to keep building quickly
  • Actively engage with quality assurance about implementation and what to test
  • Participate in stand-ups, design reviews, story writing, pointing, and retros
  • Code in pairs when it is helpful, but solo when it is more advantageous
  • Serve as part of the on-call team after gaining familiarity with our operations

Who we’re looking for: the person

You’re an amazing fit if you:

  • Extensive experience with Ruby on Rails
  • Knowledge of Rspec, experience with Capybara is a plus
  • Experience with other object-oriented languages
  • Deep knowledge of Postgres
  • Experience implementing a Service Oriented Architecture
  • The ability to write clean, reliable and highly maintainable code
  • A high level of comfort with git
  • Excellent verbal skills
  • The drive to solve problems and make life easy for customers
  • The ability to work in a customer-focused company
  • A desire to develop using cutting edge technologies and techniques
  • Experience working with a team using Agile methodologies and Scrum

On top of that, the following would be very useful:

  • Previous experience at a SaaS or technology company
  • Experience with Heroku Hosting Platform
  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks (Backbone, Angular, Ember, React)
